Cub Scout Pack 159 is sponsored by Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Hewitt, NJ.
Scouting is a great place for young boys to learn the values of citizenship, reverence and service while having a great time!
We are always ready to welcome boys in grades 1-5 to join our pack! Please contact Cubmaster Dan Butcher (cubmaster@OLQPTroopandPack159.org) for more information.
We will be returning to Camp Lewis (in Rockaway Township) this summer. For those who have never been to Camp Lewis, it is run by the Northern New Jersey Scout Council. The staff are all Scouts and Scouters, and the campers are all Cubs from Tiger to Webelos. The boys will enjoy 5 days/4 nights of Nature, Swimming, Canoeing, Archery, Crafts, and Campfires! It is a great opportunity for the boys to earn belt loops and pins, as well as become familiar with Scout Camp before they crossover to Boy Scouts. All campers sleep in campaign tents (2-person tents on wooden platforms with cots) and all meals are served in the dining hall. Our week at Camp Lewis is Saturday July 10 through Wednesday July 15. The cost is $425 for 1 scout + 1 parent (I need registration forms and payment by the April Pack Meeting).
Another option is Day Camp. Camp Yaw Paw (in Mahwah) is also run by the Northern New Jersey Scout Council and the boys enjoy the same activities as Camp Lewis. The cost is $300 per week and bus service is available from Our Lady Queen of Peace. If your scout will be going to Camp Yaw Paw, please let me know which week(s) and I will keep a list so the scouts can find out when their friends are going.
